People have different positions in family, depending on their birth order. They are aldest, middle, youngest, or only one in family. They think the birth order influences their life adjustment.
According to the essay "How your birth order influences your life adjustment," Lucille Forer said people are oldest, middle, youngest, or only one in family, depending on their birth order. In their life, an important part of thier identity is thier family position. The birth order can be influenced attitudes or minds. The other members of the family tend to certain attitudes toward each child of birth order. Parents expect the oldest child to be more capable and more responsible than younger children, because oldest child must take care of younger children. And the middle child might think that they must take care of youner children as oldest child. The youngest child may be able to think the self- concept, because other people try to take care of the youngest child. But the only child tents to think that he must take care of himself, beause no one can help him except his parents. Parents make specific patterns of behavior in the birh order of role.
In my case, When i read the essay, I agree with the author's idea that is an important part of identity is family position. I am oldest one of my siblings. I have younger brother and sister. Since they were born, I had to take care of them. My parents thought I had to be more responsible than my brother and sister , because I am oldest one. For example, if my brother or sister made mistakes, I had to be severely scolded by my parents at least 4 hours. I did not understand why I had to listen that, even I didn not make mistakes. And my parents expected me to study well, be nice woman, be responsible, be pretty, be good things whatever I could. Ecpecting of my parents was killing me. They wanted to teach me how palying piano, panting, dancing, speaking English and chianese, and so on, when I was a little. I was sick of expecting of my parents. So, I almost gave up everything. There was a reason why my parents tried to teach whaever they could, because I was first child to them. So, they woated to make me perfect woman and they thought if I became perfect woman, my brother and sister would follow me. But, after they saw that I gave up that, they disappointed me. And then they tried to ask my brother and sister what they wnated to learn. I thought it was not fiar, but now I understand, because I should know a lof of things as soon as I was able to. If I knew that, it would be good for me for my future and I would give information to my brother and sister. When I was a little, it was really stress to me, but now I am thankful of having sibling, And I think there are positions, depending on birth order. I tired to be good attitudes and positions to my brother and sister.
When I read the paragraph of only child, I remembered one article that I watched some program. The program was talking about one guy who does not have siblings. He said he was alwatys alone, becuase his parents were always busy, so, no one could take care of him. He always played by himself, sloved any problem by himself. He was lonely, and he always tried to hide himself , he was strong and weak. One day, He realized that it was not his fault and it was his personal problem. So, he ried to think positive. He tried to help other people , shared everything with other people , felt sympathy with other people. Finally, he overcame his problem. After I watched the program, I was happy for that I have brother and sister. and I thought it was important to have positions even people do not have siblings like the guy.
Thus, people vecomes known as the family's only child, oldest, middle, or youngest, depending on their birth order. An important part of identity is famliy position. Even the only child tends to think he has to take care of himself. The birth order make specific patterns of behaviro, attitudes, and so on in family. I think we have to be good at our own positions in family.
